Keep in mind there are many things to consider before deciding which tiles to install. Thanks to the huge variety of colours, patterns, shapes and sizes of tiles, creating a unique look and setting the desired feeling of the place is relatively easy to achieve if you follow some rules. Here are a few tips that can help you make the right decision.

INTERIOR TILING

  • For calming and relaxing settings, use softer colours that blend well together. Combine them with wooden and stone elements to accomplish calming sanctuary with a natural vibe
  • On the other hand, use vibrant colours for a more dynamic space. Dynamics can also be achieved with different patterns and shapes or by playing with contrasting grout colours.
  • To lighten a small space, choose light-coloured glossy tiles as they reflect more light.
  • Use larger tiles to make the room look spacious and airy.

Exterior tiling

Exterior tiling takes home design to a whole new level. What you have to pay attention to is the texture of the tiles. Those for exterior use must be slip-resistant. Being extremely hard and non-porous, with UV protection and freeze resistance, outdoor tiles are made to last long.

TILING Renovations

Renovations are stressful as they demand investing money and time. They also put lots of pressure on you during the process, which can take several weeks, depending on how big the changes you plan to make will be.

Sometimes, all you need to do is refresh certain areas as your bathroom or kitchen still has no gone out of style. Replace some cracked or chipped tiles, remove old silicone, or regrout the wall with a different colour that will give a fresh look to the space.

waterproofing

It is a big mistake to willingly skip this step before tiling a bathroom just by reason of cutting costs. Unless you are installing a shower pan liner, waterproofing the entire floor is required.

The first step in making your floor water-resistant is floor preparation as you don’t want uneven areas in the concrete to cause damage to the tiles above. If the concrete is cracked or uneven, it must be ground, sealed with a primer and levelled. After that, it is ready for waterproofing.

UNDERFLOOR HEATING

Having a pleasant warmth under your feet while the weather is raging outside is THE comfort you wish for your family. Although it sounds like a pure luxury that is very expensive to install and run - it is surprisingly affordable. Compared to the power bills we have while using heat pumps or other electric heaters, underfloor heating can save up to 40% energy.
